In August, Gibotech introduced a GiboSmartSolution featuring a collaborative robot mounted on a flexible, mobile cart. The first unit has now been sold and delivered, and the second is on its way out the door.

It was the local company Steeltec that got its hands on the first GiboCobotFlex the market. Steeltec is a Danish metalworking company that offers services such as laser cutting of sheet metal, deburring, welding, shearing and bending, turning, and many other metalworking processes.

And this is one of the processes the company has now chosen to automate using a flexible and collaborative solution from Gibotech. The solution features an OMRON 12 collaborative robot with an integrated vision camera and controller. Working alongside the robot, an OnRobot VGC 10 gripper handles workpieces that are to be bent in a press brake.

We look forward to expanding our capabilities with a robot for our Trumpf TruBend 7036 press brake, which will make us even more competitive in terms of both price and efficiency. Working closely with Gibotech, we have developed a solution tailored to our specific customer needs.

A brand-new concept

GiboCobotFlex part of Gibotech’s new concept, GiboSmartSolutions, which was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic. GiboSmartSolutions primarily GiboSmartSolutions industrial solutions, many of which are based on modules, allowing customers to purchase a single robot cell or combine multiple modules into a comprehensive solution—for example, with or without a mobile robot or CNC machine.

- During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have focused our efforts on compiling and integrating the company’s experience gained over many years.  The goal has been to make the solutions visible and easy to understand, but at the same time not to oversimplify them, as in some cases these are quite complex technological solutions. And we hope that by bringing these solutions together into a single concept, it will inspire our customers in their next automation project, says Kenneth Pedersen, Project Sales Manager at Gibotech.

The robot now being installed at Steeltec is the first model of GiboCobotFlex. It will therefore also serve as the foundation for the further development of new versions of GiboCobotFlex, which will be based on Steeltec’s experience.
