Robotic automation for automated machine operation

Gibotech was tasked with developing a robotic solution to help Skovby Møbelfabrik increase production capacity without expanding the facility or adding staff. Additionally, the lead time needed to be reduced. Overall, the hope was that automation could help maintain production and jobs in Denmark. And here, automated machine operation was part of the solution.

We want to maximize production on the same floor space. We are focused on faster turnaround times and on producing more with the same number of people, and if we are to achieve this, we must focus more on production processes that are more automated than they were in the past.

Preben Rasmussen, CEO of Skovby Møbelfabrik

“From the very beginning—once we’d outlined what we wanted and the components we had in mind to produce—Gibotech took it on board and came back with a proposed solution. When it arrived here at the factory, it was practically ready to go and was up and running very quickly,” continues Preben Rasmussen.

Thanks to the automated machine control system developed by Gibotech, Skovby has achieved its goal of establishing a fully automated production cell. This also offers the advantage of enabling continuous production, even during breaks. And since the system is unmanned, the company can naturally produce more with the same number of employees.
