In 2011, we created the world’s first automated central sterilization unit. Since then, the experience gained from that project has helped make hospital workflows significantly easier by ensuring the automatic sterilization of instruments and surgical equipment.

How does it work?
When you automate a central sterilization department, robots, conveyor belts, lifts, and other automated systems take over the tasks that are repetitive, monotonous, and physically demanding for staff. In a fully automated central sterilization department, virtually all processes—from the arrival of carts containing soiled surgical instruments to the packing of sterile instruments into clean carts—are handled by automation.
Even the sterile supply room can be automated. In an automated sterile supply room, robots ensure that containers and wire baskets holding sterile surgical equipment are stored and retrieved when they need to be loaded onto carts and sent out to the operating rooms.
Automating the central sterilization department minimizes the risk of workplace injuries among staff, significantly reduces the need for manual handling, and can extend the service life of sterilized equipment because fewer people come into contact with instruments, baskets, and containers.
