Sjællands Universitetshospital, Køge has an automated goods reception where conveyors, hoists and scissor lifts keep track of the case carts.

A trip through an automated goods reception is usually not something you are allowed to do. But you can now.

At Sjællands Universitetshospital, Køge, the automated goods reception is in operation. Case carts are guided through intakes, after which conveyors, transfer trolleys, hoists and scissor lifts ensure that the trolley and its contents arrive at the right place and at the right time.

It may be that the cart is part of a larger shipment that must be delivered to a department at the same time, or other carts that arrive later are more important to get out. The system keeps track of all that and sends the carts off accordingly.

The carts end up in the hospital’s basement, where AGVs bring them out to the departments.

The empty case carts are taken back to the outlet, where truck drivers can pick them up and drive them out to external departments.

With the automated goods reception, the employees are spared, among other things, pushing the trolleys manually – a task which can easily be carried out ergonomically incorrectly and thus lead to pain and wear and tear in the body.

The risk of errors is minimized considerably when a computer system keeps track of the carts, their order and destination.
